Danielle Mužina

In Summer 2018, my painting installation, Fly the Coop, was a part of a community arts endeavor in a neighborhood known as Slavic Village in Cleveland, Ohio called Rooms to Let. In this annual event, curators and artists take over foreclosed houses slated for demolition in the Slavic Village and turn them into interactive, immersive art spaces. I created floor to ceiling acrylic paintings that incorporated installation elements made out of repurposed materials. Members of the artist collective Our Women Before Us (Kathleen Dalton, Sonja Petermann, Megan Pinto, and Diana Mužina) participated with me in an interactive interdisciplinary performance inside the immersive painted installation as visitors walked through the space.
